Mali's External Affairs and African Integration Minister Madam Traore Rokiatou Guikine left Bamako on Monday to go to Paris to inform the transitional president Dioncounda Traore about the outcome of the last meeting of the ECOWAS Contact Group on Mali, a statement from the country's communication ministry said.

"Prime Minister Cheick Modibo Diarra asked madam Guikine to go and inform president Traore about the proceedings of the second meeting of the Contact Group on Mali of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) which was held on July 7 in Ouagadougou," the statement said.

It affirmed that "the minister for external affairs and African integration represented Mali at the important meeting which came up with specific conclusions, recommendations and decisions that she will need to share with the transitional president."

Dioncounda Traore has been in Paris since May 21 for medical treatment after he was attacked in his office in Bamako by protesters who were demanding that he leaves power.
