Egypt appoints new intelligence chief
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-09-19 23:43

Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi issued a decree to appoint Mohamed Raafat Shehata as new intelligence chief of the country, official news agency MENA reported on Wednesday.

Morsi named Raafat as acting intelligence chief on Aug. 8 to replace Murad Muwafi who was ordered to retire. The new appointments came as intensified efforts after the deadly attack on a military checkpoint near the border with Israel, an incident that killed 16 soldiers and injured seven others last month.
