We are re- opening the inside of the pyramid and the tombs today, to encourage tourism for this coming winter, which will be a high season," the minister said at a press conference, adding some other monuments in the Haram area are to be opened soon.

The renovating works included repairing the inscriptions in the graveyards and paving the ways leading to them, besides maintaining the ventilation system inside the pyramid.

In the necropolis west of the pyramid, which is about 4,500 years old, five tombs were opened, including the tomb of Kah Am Ankh who was known to be in charge of the secrets of the kings' documents.
