9/11 suspects to go to court in May: Pentagon |

The U.S. Defense Department said Tuesday that a military judge has set the date for five suspects of the 9/11 attacks to go to court.
The court date for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind, and four others is set for May 5, and the arraignment is to be held at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the Pentagon said.
The prosecution said the five terrorist suspects were responsible for the planning and execution of the terrorist attacks in New York, Washington D.C. and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 11, 2001, resulting in the loss of 2,976 lives.
The charges range from terrorism, hijacking aircraft, conspiracy and murder in violation of the law of war to attacking civilians and civilian objects, intentionally causing serious bodily injury and destruction of property in violation of the law of war. |
