Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-05-08 17:44

Mexico has placed global poverty reduction on the agenda of the G20 Summit scheduled in June, an official from Foreign Relations Secretariat (SRE) said here Monday.

"The G20 has recognized the fight against global poverty is an inevitable topic in discussions to spur growth and recover economic stability," SRE coordinator of consultants Gonzalo Canseco said at a seminar on the upcoming summit.

Preparations are well under way for the 7th G20 summit, to be held on June 18-19 in the Mexican resort city of Los Cabos.

After assuming the G20 presidency last December, the Mexican authorities proposed an agenda focusing on economic stability and structural reforms for growth and employment as well as anti-protectionism.

Issues such as food security, green economies, reduction of volatility in the commodity market and consolidation of the international financial architecture were also proposed to be put on the agenda.
