U.S. employers posted more job openings in June, a positive sign for the job market, the Labor Department said on Tuesday.
The number of job openings rose to a seasonally adjusted 3.8 million in June, up from a revised 3.7 million in May.
A separate Labor Department report released Friday showed that in July U.S. employers added most jobs in five months, but unemployment rate rose slightly to 8.3 percent.
The total number of unemployed Americans stayed virtually unchanged at 12.7 million in June. That means an average of 3.4 unemployed people would compete for every job opening in June. |
