Malaysia on alert of escaped suspect in Thailand blasts
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-02-16 09:42

Malaysia's federal police are on high alert of the suspects linked to Tuesday's blasts in Thailand who were believed have fled to Malaysia.

The federal police told reporters on Wednesday that they are working with the Interpol and are monitoring the case closely.

Four Thai nationals were injured after three bomb blasts went off at a house on Tuesday, apparently by mistake.

Thai police arrested two suspects, one of them an Iranian whose legs were blown off when he tried to hurl a bomb at the approaching policemen in an attempt to flee the house.

Investigators believed the third suspect had escaped to Malaysia.

The Thai bomb squad found and defused two bombs, each made of three or four pounds of C-4 explosives at the house, which the Israeli government believed were plotted by Iran against Israeli officials.

The two arrested men are facing four charges, including possession of explosives, attempted murder, attempted murder of a policeman and causing explosions that damaged property, Thai police said. Enditem

YONGCHUAN, Southwest China, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- DPR Korea beat South Korea 1-0 in the first round of the Women's Soccer Four-Nation Tournament here on Wednesday.

Yun Hyon-Hi's 73th-minute header broke the deadlock for DPR Korea, the only team in the invitation event which qualified for the 2012 London Olympics, and became the sole goal of the match.

The mysterious side, banned from the 2015 world cup for doping, took good use of the warmup opportunity for the Olympics. Although South Korea took the upper hand in the first half, they retained a clean sheet and found the pace in the second.

South Korea, ranked world No. 16, had early opportunities to open the scoring first while the woodwork blocked Kim Are-Um's shots twice in 12 minutes.

Earlier in the afternoon, the hosts China conquered Mexico 1-0. Enditem

TEGUCIGALPA, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- At least 272 people have died in a fire at a prison in Honduras, a forensic official told media early Wednesday, warning the death toll may rise.

The fire was believed to have been started by shooting inside the jail late Tuesday and there were more than 100 charred bodies in the cells, reports quoted the spokesman as saying.

Many inmates were burnt or suffocated in their cells because the guard who had the keys couldn't be reached, local fire department spokesman Josue Garcia said.

The prison, which has about 800 inmates, is located in the town of Comayagua in the center of the Latin American country, which is notorious for high crime rates and crowded prisons.

It is feared many inmates escaped as the prison was destroyed in the flames.
