Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-02-16 15:36

Indonesia's Foreign Ministry and the Task Force of Indonesian Embassy in Damascus evacuated 37 nationals from Syria, a press release from the ministry said on Thursday. "They were departed from Damascus on Wednesday and will arrive in Soekarno Hatta International Airport on Thursday at 15:45 local time (0845 GMT) via Emirates EK 356," said the statement.

The nationals consist of 19 students, 17 migrant workers and one child. "When they arrive at the airport, 17 workers and the kid will be received by the National Agency for Placement and Protection of Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI). Then, the agency will facilitate them to go back to their hometowns. Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry will facilitate the return of the 19 students to their hometowns," it added.

This is the second evacuation following the first seven nationals on Feb. 3.

Currently, there are 98 Indonesian migrant workers who are still staying in the Indonesian Embassy in Damascus, waiting for exit permit and compensation payment to their employers as their contract has not ended yet.

The statement said that the task force keeps evacuating other migrant workers from conflicting areas.
