Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-03-27 12:38

Japan will take more actions in overcoming vulnerabilities in its nuclear facilities, to safeguard domestic nuclear security, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda announced at the on-going Seoul Nuclear Security Summit.

In the light of the devastating Fukushima nuclear crisis, the government will devote itself to strengthening the weak link within its power supply system of the nuclear devices, which also increase defense against terrorism attacks as well, according to Yoshihiko Noda.

The Japanese government will also build up a larger stock of equipment such as radiation-shield vehicles, survey meters, and radiation protection suits to battle higher than expected radiation levels, said Yoshihiko Noda.

It will increase the number of armed security personnel, strengthen the system of patrols, and enhance protective measures for important equipment outside of inner areas of nuclear facilities, Yoshihiko Noda said.

Meanwhile, Japan will play a leading role in cooperation with other volunteer countries in reinforcing transport security of nuclear and other radioactive materials, Japanese Foreign Ministry press secretary Yutaka Yokoi told a briefing at the on-going Seoul summit.
