Leader Kim Jong Un of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said Monday that the country will make efforts to improve people's living standard step by step.

The DPRK will unswervingly implement the instructions of late leader Kim Jong Il to early realize the victory of the revolutionary cause and build a thriving nation, the official KCNA news agency quoted him as saying.

Kim Jong Un, supreme leader of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, called on the DPRK people to unite around the WPK Central Committee and make great efforts toward that goal.

The current leader made the remarks in a letter where he thanked all DPRK party members, service personnel and people for their profound condolences on the demise of Kim Jong Il, who passed away in December.
