Blast kills 2 at Pakistan's railway station

A blast killed at least two people and injured 14 others in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore Tuesday evening, police and witnesses said.

They said that the blast occurred at the busy railway station in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province. The injured were shifted to local hospitals.

The device was planted at track two which exploded with a big bang, residents said. The blast took place at about 6:42 p.m., causing panic among the people at the site.

So far, no group claimed responsibility for the blast. The authorities blame suspected militants for such attacks.

All those killed and injured are civilians and motives behind the attack were unclear.

Ambulances arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to hospitals. The police confirmed two deaths while local media put the death toll at three.
