South Korea will raise the issue of GPS jamming signals allegedly coming from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) at international organizations, a telecom regulator here said Wednesday.
The state-run Korea Communications Commission (KCC) said it will send an official letter to the DPRK to protest the alleged jamming attempts and seek close international cooperation on the issue.
The move comes after reports that electronic jamming signals officials here believe are coming from the DPRK have affected hundreds of passenger aircraft and ships since late April.
The alleged jamming violates the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) rules meant to ensure safety in international air navigation, according to the KCC.
Similar jamming attacks reported here were all blamed on the DPRK, which it never admitted. |
