Nine rangers were wounded in a bomb explosion on a road in southernmost province of Narathiwat's Tak Bai district on Tuesday.
They were among a number of rangers of the 11th Rangers Regiment travelling in the bus from Narathiwat back to central province of Phetchaburi after being relieved.
When the bus was about to cross a bridge in Tak Bai district, the bomb planted on a tricycle parked on the Tak Bai-Narathiwat road was remotely detonated.
The explosion damaged the bus and injured nine of the rangers.
Since the resurgence of the insurgency in 2004 in three Muslim- dominant provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat which were once part of the Sultanate of Pattani, over 5,200, mostly villagers, have been killed and about 8,000 injured. |
