S.Korea's Lee to attend APEC summit next week

South Korean President Lee Myung-bak will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit next week in the Russian city of Vladivostok, and visit Greeland, Norway and Kazakhstan, Lee's office said Thursday.

Lee will arrive in Russia Friday next week for the summit slated for Sept. 8-9, where leaders from the 21 member nations will discuss free trade and investment, regional economic integration and food security, according to presidential office Cheong Wa Dae.

Lee will then visit Greenland, a semi-autonomous county of Denmark, on Sept. 9-10 for talks with Greenland Premier Kuupik Kleist over green growth, resources development and Arctic cooperation.

He will travel to Norway and meet with Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg on Sept. 12 to discuss boosting bilateral economic and trade relations and cooperation in renewable energy and resources development.

The president is scheduled to visit Kazakhstan on the last leg of the trip for talks with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev over strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, according to Cheong Wa Dae.
