A powerful blast rocks Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital of southern Afghan province of Helmand on Monday afternoon with feared casualties, the local police said.
"The explosion occurred at around 1:40 p.m. local time Monday in Safyano area, there could be casualties but details will be released to media later after investigation," the police source said.
The government troops immediately cordoned off the area shortly after the explosion.
The nature of the blast is not known at this span of time.
