India's apex court frees journalist in Israeli car bomb attack
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-10-19 21:23

India's highest judiciary, the Supreme Court, has granted bail to an Indian journalist who was arrested by the police in March for his alleged role in a bomb attack on an Israeli Embassy car in the national capital.

A two-judge bench led by Chief Justice of India, Altamas Kabir, freed on bail Syed Mohammad Kazmi, a 50-year-old scribe working for a Iranian news agency in the Indian capital, and held in connection with the attack on the car of an Israeli diplomat's wife. The accused has, however, been ordered to deposit his passport with the Indian authorities.

The attack took place on Feb. 13 when a motorcyclist planted a bomb on the Israeli Embassy car, in which four people were injured.

Israel has blamed Iran for the attack but Tehran denies any involvement.
