Senior U.S. diplomat visits S. Korea for talks

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Kurt Campbell visited South Korea Friday for talks with his counterparts.

During his two-day trip, Campbell is scheduled to meet with South Korea's Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Kyou-hyun to discuss issues of mutual concern, including the Seoul-Washington alliance, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, economic issues and regional cooperation, according to the State Department.

Campbell is also expected to sit down with South Korea's top nuclear envoy Lim Sung-nam.

Prior to the Seoul trip, the U.S. diplomat also made a stop in Japan.
