Tropical storm Son-Tinh (local name Ofel) has left the Philippines with 27 people dead, nine missing, and 19 injured, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Saturday.

In its latest report released on Saturday evening, the state agency said of the 27 victims died in the storm, 15 people were killed by drowning, 5 died after they were hit by fallen trees, and the others were killed in various accidents such as electrocution and landslide.

Around 14,700 families or about 66,800 people were affected by the storm and of them, some 3,400 families or 15,200 individuals were staying in 97 evacuation centers, NDRRMC said, adding that three provinces in northern Philippines were still flooded.

Authorities have pegged the cost of damage by the weather disturbance at around 55.34 million pesos (about 1.34 million U.S. dollars).
