Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-12-22 07:10

India's latest Russian- made frigate, Tarkash, is on schedule to arrive at its new home in Mumbai by the end of the year after a six-week journey from the Russian port of Kaliningrad on the Baltic Sea, said Itar-Tass on Friday.

The naval vessel was officially handed over to its Indian owners on November 9, and has made leisurely stops in various European and African ports on its long way home. No technical problems or unwarranted delays have been reported.

Tarkash is the second of three Indian frigates to be built in Kaliningrad in accordance with a deal signed by India and Russia in 2006. The third frigate, Trikand, is expected to be ready by mid-2013.
