Indian President Pranab Mukherjee Friday expressed concern over the health of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and conveyed the country's prayers for his speedy recovery.
"I am confident that the Venezuelan President will have the strength and courage to overcome his present difficulties with his health. In this moment of trial for the friendly people of Venezuela, the people of India send their good wishes," President Mukherjee said.
President Chavez, who took office in 1999, underwent his fourth cancer operation in 18 months nearly two weeks back at a hospital in Cuba. Though he is currently recuperating, Chavez has reportedly started dealing with official matters.
In October this year, Chavez was re-elected for six more years. He has anointed his Vice-President as his successor. |
