Last Updated(Beijing Time):2013-01-15 10:28

Top American diplomat for East Asia, Kurt Campbell, is due in Seoul Tuesday on his first visit here since conservative Park Geun-hye was elected to lead Washington's close ally.

Campbell, assistant secretary of state for East Asia, will be accompanied by Assistant Secretary of Defense Mark Lipper and National Security Council Senior Director for Asian affairs Daniel Russel.

The envoys are scheduled to meet Wednesday with Park, who replaces incumbent President Lee Myung-bak next month, and deliver U.S. President Barack Obama's congratulatory letter to the president-elect, according to Park's aides.

Campbell is also to meet with senior officials here, including Unification Minister Yu Woo-ik. The delegation is expected to leave for Japan on Wednesday.
