Last Updated(Beijing Time):2013-01-16 16:50

The Indian Army said that the situation along the international border with Pakistan which falls in the western state of Rajasthan is normal, though the border guards are ready in case of any crisis.

"The para-military Border Security Force is deployed for border guarding and we are also in the area but there is no problem. The situation is normal though the forces are quite vigilant and we are fully prepared to face any challenge," Indian Army's southwestern commander Lieutantant General Gyan Bhushan was quoted as saying by the media.

"Adequate measures are in place and whenever required, there will be no loss of time from our side. We are fully prepared to face any challenge whether internal or external," he added.

The commander's statement came in the wake of mounting tensions along the Line of Control in the disputed territory of Kashmir, where two Indian soldiers were allegedly brutally killed by Pakistan which rejected the claim.

India shares border with Pakistan in the northern state of Kashmir and the western state of Rajasthan.
