Indian FM supports home minister's remarks on Hindu terror
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2013-01-22 18:54

Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid Tuesday expressed his full fledged support for Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's recent remarks on "Hindu terror" being fueled in training camps run by opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ideological mentor, the Rashtriya Swamsevak Sangh (RSS).

The External Affairs Minister said that the Home Minister's comment was factually correct and phrases used by him should not be used to divert attention. "Our stated position is fully shared by the Home Minister. His statements are based on facts," Khurshid said in the national capital.

He added: "Any form of violence by extremists of any kind, irrespective of religion is not good for India. We should not be distracted by a phrase here and there. Terror does not have a religion. It should not have a color. Those are the facts available to the home ministry."

The Indian Home Minister had last week kicked up a political storm after he said at a conclave of the ruling party in the western state of Rajasthan's capital Jaipur that "training camps of both BJP and RSS are promoting Hindu terrorism... whether it is Samjhauta blast or Mecca Masjid blast or Malegaon blast, they plant bombs and blame it on the minorities."

The BJP has demanded the sacking of Shinde over his statement and called for a nationwide protest on January 24, apart from an apology from the Congress leadership.
