Germany's new President Joachim Gauck arrived here Monday for a two-day visit in his first foreign trip as president.

The German leader, who was sworn in Friday, was welcomed by Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski and is expected to meet with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk among other leaders.

Gauck took over the largely ceremonial post from former President Christian Wulff after the latter was forced to resign amid corruption charges.
