The death toll from a fire that raged through a village in Russia's Far East Amur region last week reached two, Itar-Tass news agency reported Monday.
An elderly woman died in hospital Sunday, and another woman was found dead under the debris of her burnt house in the Tygda village.
The wildfire destroyed scores of houses and buildings in Tygda Friday and left some 350 people, including 59 children, homeless.
The homeless villagers were staying in homes of their relatives and acquaintances, or were accommodated in makeshift camps.
New houses will be built for those who lost their homes in the fire, according to Governor of the Amur region Oleg Kozhemyako. |
