French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault on Tuesday met with representatives of trade unions and employers for a social conference scheduled before mid-July.
"What is happening today is the first time of a social agenda that was introduced by Jean-Marc Ayrault last week," said William Bachelay, spokesman for the Socialist Party in parliamentary elections, over local radio Europe 1.
Ayrault, joined by ministers from labor and other departments, met with representatives from five trade unions including CGT, CFDT, FO, CFTC and CFE-CGC, and three employers' organizations, MEDEF, CGPME and UPA, the French press reported.
The meeting, presented as the first contact between the new government and social partners, is to make an overview of issues identified as priorities such as pensions, wages or employment. |
