A small plane carrying 13 people went missing in central Russia early Tuesday, local authorities said.
Regional Interior Ministry spokesman Valery Gorelykh told Interfax news agency the ministry was alerted about the missing Antonov An-2 plane at 8:30 a.m. local time (0230 GMT).
"In addition to the pilot, the airplane is carrying 12 people. So far, they have not been found either dead or alive," Gorelykh said.
None of them had answered their mobile phones, the spokesman said, adding a search-and-rescue operation was underway.
Gorelykh said the plane took off from a small airfield near Serov, a town in the central state of Sverdlovsk. |
