Russian Prime Minister congratulated Russian athletes who have won medals at the London Olympics, the government press service said Monday.

"I congratulate you with the victory which is a decent contribution to the Russian team's vaults," Medvedev said in his messages to athletes who had won two gold medals and three bronze medals.

Russian judoka Arsen Galstyan toppled Japanese Hiroaki Hiraoka with ippon to win the men's 60kg category at London Olympic Games on Saturday, becoming Russia's first gold medalist during the games.

Another judoka Mansur Isaev grabbed Russia's second Olympic gold, overpowering 2010 world champion Riki Nakaya of Japan to lift the men's 73kg title on Monday.

On Sunday, Nikolay Kovalev won men's sabre bronze, Olga Zabelinskaya gained the bronze in the Olympic road cycling race, and Russia's four-man swimming team finished third in the 4x100 meters freestyle relay.

Also, Medvedev mentioned the athletes who have braved the heavy weather conditions in the first days of the Olympics.

Russia has set a minimum target of 25 gold medals in London, in a bid to reach a top-three place in the medal table.

During the Beijing 2008 Olympics, Russia reached top three behind China and the United States with 72 medals, including 23 gold medals.
