The Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) on Friday completed tallying the 2012 parliamentary elections with tabulation of all the 3,766 polling stations in both Georgia and abroad.

Provisional results showed that the opposition election coalition Georgian Dream had garnered 54.85 percent of the votes while the ruling United National Movement party had posted 40.43 percent of the votes in the ballot for proportionally- representative lawmakers.

CEC spokesperson Ekaterine Azarashvili told the press that though there were still some disputes ongoing, they would not affect the overall tabulation with any significant effect.

The completed provisional election results indicated that the six-party election coalition had led in both the ballot for the 77 proportionally-representative members of parliament and the ballot for the 73 single-mandate majoritarian members of parliament.

The Georgian Dream has taken 39 of the 73 constituencies while the United National Movement has taken 33 constituencies. There is still one other constituency at stake.

Previously, the proportional and majoritarian ballots halved the elections for the 150-seat unicameral legislature of Georgia.

In 2012, the parties, both ruling and some opposition, agreed to reduce to 73 seats the quota for majoritarian ballot and to increase to 77 seats the quota for proportional ballot.
