World women leaders on Wednesday gathered at the 2012 Women's Forum Global Meeting in Deauville, Northwest France, to voice their concerns over global growth as the world is battling with sluggish economy recovery.
"Women are crucial thinkers and actors to help transforming societies when this world more than ever seeks for alternatives and innovation," Veronique Morali, president of the Women's Forum for the Economy & Society, said in her opening speech.
The three-day forum attracted over 1,200 participants including government officials, business executives, academics and civil society delegates. Participants exchanged views on women empowerment and global growth.
In view of China's prominent economic growth, the forum offered dedicated sessions on China where growth patterns appear rather different from other economies.
Leading a 10-people Lenovo group to the Women's Forum, vice president of HR China & APLA (Asia Pacific & Latin America) Lenovo, Gao Lan, told Xinhua that as an international company, Lenovo has been partnered with the Women's Forum for seven year "as the forum does not only centers on women-related matters, but also widens topics and contents to what are mostly concerned in the societies, such as China's market development."
Founded in 2005 by French psychologist Aude Zieseniss de Thuin, the Women's Forum for the Economy and Society promotes women's empowerment in industry and society. |
