Bust of Indian-British WWII heroine to be unveiled in London |

A bust of World War II Indian- British heroine Noor Inayat Khan will be unveiled in London next week by Princess Anne of Britain, the Indo-Asian News Service reported Saturday.
Noor was the first woman radio operator to be infiltrated into occupied France and did crucial work for the allies. She was eventually captured and killed in Dachau Concentration Camp by Nazis.
The bronze bust will be unveiled on Nov. 8 in Gordon Square, central London.
Born to an Indian father and an American mother, Noor was a descendant of a Muslim Sultan in south India. In 1940, Noor was recruited by British secret service, the Special Operations Executive, which sent her to France. |
