The European Union (EU) called on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to choose a "different path", said a spokesperson of EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton on Tuesday.

"The EU is concerned about DPRK's continued threats to its neighbors, notably the Republic of Korea," the spokesperson told Xinhua following the DPRK's supreme military command announced that the country would nullify the Korean War Armistice Agreement on Monday, the same day when a U.S.-South Korean military drill is set to kick off.

The spokesperson said that the EU also called upon the DPRK to refrain from further provocations and to abide by relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
