Hamas PM vows to break Israeli embargo
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-01-02 22:35

Deposed Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haneya said here on Monday that they have the confidence to break the embargo and claim a victory over the Israeli siege, thanks to those onboard of the Mavi Marmara aid ship, who had sacrificed their lives.

Haneya made the remarks at a press conference after visiting the Mavi Marmara ship, the lead vessel of a six-ship Gaza-bound aid flotilla, which raided by Israeli commandos. Eight Turkish nationals and a U.S. citizen with Turkish origin were killed during the conflict.

Israel aimed to break the support to the Palestinians by raiding the aid ship, Haneya said, adding they would never give up the Palestinian cause and the struggle for freedom.

Haneya, meanwhile, thanked the Turkish people, government, political parties and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan for not leaving Palestinians alone, and for supporting it all the time.

Erdogan met with Haneya in Istanbul on Sunday, and said Turkey welcomed recent efforts to ensure unity and solidarity among the Palestinians, adding he hoped work to restructure the interim leadership committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization would be completed as soon as possible.

Erdogan also expressed hope that the Palestinians could have a comprehensive and framed organization which has high democratic representative with the participation of all political groups, and that the organization would be ensured with a compromise among all the Palestinians.
