Israeli war jets raid four targets in Gaza
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-02-12 14:57

Israeli war jets raided Saturday midnight four targets in the Gaza Strip, wounding at least two people, medics and witnesses said.

Israeli F16 warplanes hovered over the coastal enclave, ruled by the Islamic Hamas movement, and carried out sudden airstrikes on four separate targets in the Gaza Strip, witnesses said.

Three airstrikes targeted unpopulated areas in eastern Gaza City and the southern towns of Khan Younis and Rafah, the witnesses said, adding that no injuries were reported and one of the missiles didn 't explode.

A fourth airstrike targeted a group of militants in the southeast of Gaza City, where paramedics said that at least two Palestinians were injured and have been taken to Shiffa Hospital in the city.

Security officials in Gaza said that the intensive airstrikes on the coastal enclave were an Israeli retaliation for an earlier rocket attacks launched from the Gaza Strip on southern Israel.

Israeli radio reports have said that two homemade rockets landed in empty areas, causing no damages or injuries.

No one claimed responsibility for the rocket attacks.

The escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip is against a Egypt- mediated ceasefire reached between Israel and Gaza militants.
