Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi said Tuesday that Iran can be a reliable energy provider for the European Union (EU) countries.

Salehi made the remarks at a joint press conference with his Omani counterpart in Tehran.

Europeans need to adopt more independent policies towards Iran, he said, adding that Iran's foreign policy is based on boosting relations with countries in the world.

Salehi said Monday he was "confident" that the ties between Iran and Europe would be back on track.

Neither European countries nor Iran can disregard the need for mutual cooperation, he added.
