The Syrian Arab Red Crescent ( SARC) said Tuesday that it has evacuated 30 people from the restive Baba Amr area in central Homs province, the epicenter of bloody clashes between armed rebels and government troops.

In a statement carried by state-run SANA news agency, the SARC pointed out that its volunteers in Homs have been working around the clock since Friday in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross to evacuate the injured form Baba Amr neighborhood, adding that it has successfully evacuated 30 people.

It added that humanitarian aid was also provided to other restive provinces such as Daraa, Hama, Deir al-Zour, and some suburbs of the capital such as Madaya and al-Zabadani.

The humanitarian organization also said that its two workers were killed in northern Idlib province while on duty.

The SARC concluded by voicing appreciation for the support it's receiving from humanitarian organizations from across the world.

"Their support (humanitarian organizations), along with the diligent efforts of our volunteers and workers, enabled us to provide humanitarian aid to thousands of people regardless of nationality, religion or political affiliation," the SARC said, adding that "it is of utmost necessity to those who need our humanitarian services that we continue to do our work."

Homs, Syria's third largest city and home to more than 800,000 people, has witnessed severe clashes between troops loyal to President Bashar al-Assad and militia groups, allegedly comprising partly of defectors.

The region is considered one of Syria's most volatile areas, as the daily grind of violence stocked fears that it has slid toward a civil war.

Syria's government said in December 2011 that "armed terrorist groups" had killed more than 2,000 army and security personnel. The UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs B. Lynn Pascoe said Tuesday that over 7,500 people have died in Syria violence.
