Israeli President Shimon Peres on Sunday called Iran "a danger to the entire world," vowing to stop the country's acquisition of a nuclear weapon.
Addressing the annual meeting of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a pro-Israel lobbying group in Washington, the president accused Iran of sponsoring terrorism, saying "Iran is a danger to the entire world. It threatens Berlin as well as Madrid, Delhi as well as Bangkok."
"The United States and Israel share the same goal -- to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, there is no space between us," claimed the veteran leader.
"Our message is clear: Iran will not develop a nuclear weapon," he noted.
Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are scheduled to meet with U.S. President Barack Obama separately on Sunday and on Monday to press for a hardening U.S. position on Iran's nuclear program. |
