10 Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrike on Gaza

Two Palestinians were killed early Saturday in a new Israeli airstrike on the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahia, raising the death toll to ten in Israel's raid on the Palestinian area since Friday afternoon, medics said.

Adham Abu Selmeya, Gaza emergency spokesman told reporters that Israeli warplanes struck a house in the town, killing two people and wounding four others, three of them were children.

Abu Selmeya said that more than 14 Palestinians were injured, five of them in critical conditions, since Friday afternoon.

He said Gaza hospitals suffer from a severe shortage of medicine.

Violence in the Gaza Strip flared after Israeli warplanes struck a car in Gaza city on Friday afternoon killing two people, one of them was the commander general of the pro-Hamas Popular Resistance Committees (PRC).

In response, Various militant groups, mainly the PRC and the Islamic Jihad, fired more than 60 homemade rockets from the Gaza Strip at southern Israeli towns and communities. Eight Israelis were wounded, with one in crucial conditions.

The Palestinian militant groups have announced they are not committed to an Egyptian-brokered truce announced between Israel and Gaza militant groups led by the Hamas movement, which rules the Gaza Strip.
