AL chief calls for international inquiry into crimes in Syria
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-03-14 01:17

Arab League (AL) chief Nabil al- Arabi on Tuesday called for international neutral inquiry into the deadly crimes and punishing the perpetrators in Syria.

In a statement, Arabi said that what have been reported about the deadly atrocities of killing the civilians, especially women, children and elderly in Syrian cities like Homs and Idlib, should be described as anti-human crimes, and the international society should not remain silent.

He reaffirmed AL's condemnation on the dangerous violations of human rights in Syria, calling for punishing those who were responsible for the crimes.

The AL chief called upon the Syrian government to cooperate with the international independent investigation commission formed by UN Human Rights Council or with any other neutral investigators.

Arab foreign ministers on Saturday reached a resolution in the AL headquarters, urging Damascus to immediately stop all violence acts, guarantee free peaceful protests, achieve reforms and changes aspired by the Syrian people.
