Iranian Intelligence Ministry announced that it has recently arrested 15 Israel-linked "spies" and "terrorists," the local satellite Press TV reported Wednesday.

The ministry said in a statement issued on Tuesday that in recent operations by Iranian intelligence forces, 15 people, both Iranians and foreigners who are linked to an Israeli spy cell have been detained, according to the report.

On April 10, Iranian Intelligence Ministry announced that the Islamic republic arrested key "members of an Israeli terrorist cell" in Iran.

It is quoted by local Mehr news agency as saying that "one of the terror and sabotage cells of Israel and a number of its protected cores were identified and a group of criminal terrorists. .. were arrested" in the operation.

The ministry said Wednesday that one of the missions of the " terrorists" was to identify and assassinate one of Iran's experts.

It also said that an Israeli spy base in a neighboring country, which was run by Israel's Mossad spy agency to carry out operations against the interests of Iran, has also been identified, according to Press TV.

Iran has previously accused Israel of carrying out intelligence work inside the Islamic republic and even of being involved in killings of Iranian nuclear scientists.

Israel and the West suspect Iran's nuclear program and accuse Iran of conducting weapon-grade activities under the guise of civilian nuclear program. Iran denies the charges, saying that its nuclear activities are for "peaceful" ends.
