Four IRGC forces killed in PJAK attack in western Iran
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-04-25 19:56

Four members of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) were killed in an attack by members of the Kurdish separatist Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK) in western Iran, the semi-official Mehr news agency reported on Wednesday.

In the "terrorist" attack in suburban Paveh city in western Iran on Tuesday evening, four IRGC forces were killed and four others were injured, said the report.

Iran's western region has been the ground of armed clashes between security forces and Kurdish militant groups, in particular the PJAK, an anti-Iranian Kurdish rebel group linked to Turkey's outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK).

Shahryar Heidari, deputy governor of Western Kermanshah province, told Mehr that "the PJAK terrorists had also some casualties" in the attack and that "the accurate figure will be announced later."
