A Palestinian teenager was killed Wednesday in what residents said was an Israeli airstrike in southern Gaza City.

Medical sources confirmed the death of 14-year-old Momen Al- Adan, adding that three others, including the boy's father and two women, were also wounded in the strike.

The military strike puts the number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip since Monday at nine, one of them a toddler killed when a Palestinian rocket fell short of Israel's border and hit her house.

Hamas, the Islamic movement that controls Gaza, fired rockets into Israel Tuesday for the first time in more than a year. The rocket fire aimed at retaliating the death of four Palestinians a day earlier in Israeli strikes that started Monday.
