Syrian foreign ministry spokesman said Monday that Syria stands alongside the democratic choice of the Egyptian people, expressing wishes for success to the Egyptian president-elect Mohamed Morsi.
"We say to the Egyptian people: congratulations... and we wish the Egyptian president success," Jihad Makdessi said at a press conference, adding that Syria stands alongside the Egyptian people 's democratic choice.
Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood's candidate, took 51.73 percent of the vote in Egypt's presidential run-off, defeating his rival Ahmed Shafiq, who got 48.27 percent. |
