Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi said the Islamic republic and Saudi Arabia will soon sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the extradition of criminals between the two countries, the Press TV reported on Wednesday.
"A memorandum of understanding has been prepared and Iran and Saudi Arabia are due to sign it, under which criminals (of both countries) will be extradited so that they could receive punishment in their respective countries," Salehi was quoted as saying on Tuesday.
Salehi made the remarks during a press conference in reference to the recent execution of a number of Iranian prisoners in Saudi Arabia, who had been sentenced to death for alleged involvement in drug trafficking, according to the Tehran Times daily.
Salehi expressed Iran's willingness to have the "best relations " with its neighbors, saying that the Islamic republic seeks peace and stability in the region, said Press TV. |
