Israel held responsible for killing Palestinian near Jerusalem
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-07-31 04:55

The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) on Monday asked Israel to probe the killing of a Palestinian and wounding two others at an Israeli roadblock near Jerusalem.

PNA Premier Salam Fayyad said in a press statement emailed to reporters that Israel is held fully responsible for killing Akram Badea, a 46-year-old Palestinian and wounding two others.

Fayyad said that the three victims were workers and they were in a car when the Israeli soldiers at an Israeli army roadblock opened fire at their car near Jerusalem.

"Basically, the ongoing Israeli military occupation of the Palestinian territories and having such roadblocks is the basic problem, and the results of it is having more victims either by soldiers or Jewish settlers," said Fayyad.

He accused Israel for violating the international law "by keeping the occupation of our land," adding "Israel is held fully responsible for this crime and we won't keep silent for such crimes that target our innocent people."

The Israeli army had justified the killing of Badea by saying that the soldiers opened fire at the car after the driver refused to stop his car after he drove through the roadblock in an area between Ramallah and Jerusalem.
