Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi dismissed on Monday the Israeli threats of war against the Islamic republic as "worthless," Press TV reported.
Israel makes such assertions out of sheer fear, Vahidi said referring to the recent remarks of outgoing Israeli home front defense minister Matan Vilna'i who said that Israel is more ready than ever for a war with Iran.
According to the media reports, the Israeli minister said last week that possible war with Iran could take one month with 500 dead.
"The Zionists are today even afraid of their own shadows, therefore (they are) trying to control this disappointing atmosphere by (staging) brouhaha and psychological warfare, but should know that propaganda will not resolve their problems," Vahidi was quoted as saying.
The Iranian defense minister said the Israeli officials' warmongering statements are working counterproductively by bringing the country's army and "war machine" nearer to destruction.
"Officials of the Zionist regime are having serious political disagreements among themselves and these remarks bear no value," he added.
"The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are currently at the highest level of defensive and military preparedness and will give a crushing response to any aggressors," said Vahidi. |
