Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-09-27 18:11

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's media adviser Ali-Akbar Javanfekr has been jailed, Tehran Times daily reported Thursday.

Javanfekr, who is also the caretaker manager of local Iran Daily and chief of official IRNA news agency, was arrested Wednesday and sent to prison to serve his sentence for undermining the Islamic establishment and principles.

A Tehran court sentenced Javanfekr to a one-year jail term in November 2011, but three months later an appealing court reduced his sentence to six months, according to IRNA.

The court also banned him from engaging in media activities for three years for disrespecting the Islamic principles.

On Monday, Iran's judiciary jailed Mehdi Hashemi, the son of Iran's former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.

Mehdi Hashemi, who returned to Iran from Britain on Sunday, was summoned to a judiciary center in Tehran and was jailed for investigation on the charges levelled against him, IRNA reported.

He is said to be charged with inciting unrest after a disputed presidential election in Iran in 2009, which led to the re- election of Ahmadinejad.

On Saturday, Iran's judiciary also detained the daughter of Rafsanjani, who had been sentenced to six months in jail and a ban from political activities for five years on charges of spreading propaganda against the ruling system in the Islamic republic, according to IRNA.
