The Israeli army on Saturday killed a Palestinian near the fence of the border with northern Gaza Strip, Israeli Radio reported.
The radio quoted an Israeli army statement as saying that the Israeli army forces shot dead a Palestinian who approached the border area.
Palestinian security or medical sources did not make any comment on the report, but said two Palestinian fishermen were shot Friday by Israeli naval forces near a beach in northern Gaza Strip. One of the fishermen was in critical condition and died later Saturday, they said.
The Israeli army denied the claim of shooting Palestinian fishermen, but said its naval forces opened fire at a fishing boat that violated the limited area of fishing.
Israel is imposing a tight blockade on the sea, air and ground of the Gaza Strip, which is ruled by Hamas movement. It has built up a 300-meter no-go zone along the borderline between the coastal enclave and Israel. |
