OECD chief Angel Gurria Saturday called for the building of the "mother of all firewalls" in financial systems to better prepare the world for future economic crises.
Gurria, Secretary-General of the Paris-based Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), made the appeal at a seminar of bankers and financial regulators held here.
It was parallel to the meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bank governors starting here Friday.
Commenting the fight against the Greek debt crisis and the recent reform measures adopted by Italy and Spain on their financial systems, Gurria said it was "late, but better late than never."
"We still have to build the mother of all firewalls" of financial systems, said Gurria.
That firewall had to be wide, deep, believable and credible, Gurria added. |
