Philippine exports up 3 pct in Jan.

After eight consecutive months of decline, Philippine exports posted an annual 3 increase in January on back of slight recovery in electronics exports, the National Statistics Office (NSO) said Tuesday.

Export revenues rose to 4.12 billion U.S. dollars in January. On a monthly basis, NSO said exports also rebounded and posted a growth of 21 percent from the 3.41 billion U.S. dollars posted in December 2011.

Exports of electronic products remained the country's top export and accounted for 52.2 percent of total export revenues in January 2012. Exports revenues for electronic products reached 2. 152 billion U.S. dollars. This is 0.4 percent higher from January 2011 and 35.1 percent higher compared to December's.

Exports of furniture, textile and copper cathodes likewise rose.

Japan, the U.S. and China are the top three export destinations for Philippine goods.
